What is a Climate Model and Global Model? Is there a difference? Both created by first computers: Jay Wright Forrester (July 14, 1918 – November 16, 2016) Whirlwind or Wizard of Oz….

Climate models are made up of one and zeroes. Models have boundary conditions or rules set up in the programs. Then the programs are run or simulated… The programs are made of statistical calculations. Chaos theory.

Jay Wright Forrester (July 14, 1918 – November 16, 2016) was a pioneering American computer engineer and systems scientist. He was a professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Forrester is known as the founder of system dynamics, which deals with the simulation of interactions between objects in dynamic systems.

Forrester was the founder of system dynamics, which deals with the simulation of interactions between objects in dynamic systems. Industrial Dynamics was the first book Forrester wrote using system dynamics to analyze industrial business cycles. Several years later, interactions with former Boston Mayor John F. Collins led Forrester to write Urban Dynamics, which sparked an ongoing debate on the feasibility of modeling broader social problems.

The urban dynamics model attracted the attention of urban planners around the world, eventually leading Forrester to meet a founder of the Club of Rome. He later met with the Club of Rome to discuss issues surrounding global sustainability; the book World Dynamics followed. World Dynamics took on modeling the complex interactions of the world economy, population and ecology, which was controversial (see also Donella Meadows and Limits to Growth). It was the start of the field of global modeling.[3] Forrester continued working in applications of system dynamics and promoting its use in education.

Whirlwind I was a Cold War-era vacuum tube computer developed by the MIT Servomechanisms Laboratory for the U.S. Navy. It was among the first digital electronic computers that operated in real-time for output, and the first that was not simply an electronic replacement of older mechanical systems.

It was one of the first computers to calculate in parallel (rather than serial), and was the first to use magnetic core memory.

If every car had a better battery and alternator system we would probably save more total pollution from going into the environment than focusing on a few elite hybrids if cars were people.

Drones could jump start cars. Vehicles should self diagnose and communicate sensor problems. Sensors should be redundant. More engine and hydraulic transmission research. If our goal was most transport/pollution into the environment.

Every car should be able to tow another car easily.

The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was held in Stockholm, Sweden from June 5–16 in 1972.

When the United Nations General Assembly decided to convene the 1972 Stockholm Conference, at the initiative of the Government of Sweden to host it, UN Secretary-General U Thant invited Maurice Strong to lead it as Secretary-General of the Conference, as the Canadian diplomat (under Pierre Trudeau) had initiated and already worked for over two years on the project

Julian Huxley UNESCO philosophy writer and creator was a eugenics advocate.

David and Nelson Rockefeller funded Lester Brown who Wrote a World Without Borders they both were eugenics advocates.

Jason Thompson received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Law & Society from Winona State University and the International University Of Ulaanbaatar where he studied U.S.-Mongolian Foreign Relations 1860-1920. He also attended diesel and hybrid technology programs at Hennepin Technical College in Minnesota, foreign ambassadorship courses at Soonchunhyang University in the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and attained a positive leadership certificate at the University for Peace in Costa Rica. He has a Master of Arts degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he focused on how climate control was visually framed in the media using content analysis, enhanced weathering techniques that create power and control atmospheric carbon dioxide percentages using olivine powder and Sonics and high-energy x-ray applications. Jason has wrote for Diesel Power and The Costa Rica News. Now he works for a call center helping stranded motorists around the United States from Las Vegas.

The Washington Post calls Lester Brown “one of the world’s most influential thinkers.” The Telegraph of Calcutta refers to him as “the guru of the environmental movement.” In 1986, the Library of Congress requested his personal papers noting that his writings “have already strongly affected thinking about problems of world population and resources.”

Brown started his career as a farmer, growing tomatoes in southern New Jersey with his younger brother during high school and college. Shortly after earning a degree in agricultural science from Rutgers University in 1955, he spent six months living in rural India where he became intimately familiar with the food/population issue. In 1959 Brown joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service as an international analyst.

Brown earned masters degrees in agricultural economics from the University of Maryland and in public administration from Harvard University. In 1964, he became an adviser to Secretary of Agriculture Orville Freeman on foreign agricultural policy. In 1966, the Secretary appointed him Administrator of the department’s International Agricultural Development Service. In early 1969, he left government to help establish the Overseas Development Council.

In 1974, with support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Lester Brown founded the Worldwatch Institute, the first research institute devoted to the analysis of global environmental issues. While there he launched the Worldwatch Papers, the annual State of the World reports, World Watch magazine, a second annual entitled Vital Signs: The Trends That are Shaping Our Future, and the Environmental Alert book series.

Brown has authored or coauthored 54 books. One of the world’s most widely published authors, his books have appeared in some 40 languages. Among his earlier books are Man, Land and Food, World Without Borders, and Building a Sustainable Society. His 1995 book Who Will Feed China? challenged the official view of China’s food prospect, spawning hundreds of conferences and seminars.

In May 2001, he founded the Earth Policy Institute to provide a vision and a road map for achieving an environmentally sustainable economy. In November 2001, he published Eco-Economy: Building an Economy for the Earth, which was hailed by E.O. Wilson as “an instant classic.” His most recent book is The Great Transition: Shifting from Fossil Fuels to Solar and Wind Energy. In 2013, he released his autobiography, Breaking New Ground: A Personal History.

He is the recipient of many prizes and awards, including 25 honorary degrees, a MacArthur Fellowship, the 1987 United Nations’ Environment Prize, the 1989 World Wide Fund for Nature Gold Medal, and the 1994 Blue Planet Prize for his “exceptional contributions to solving global environmental problems.” In 2012, he was inducted into the Earth Hall of Fame Kyoto.

On June 30, 2015, at the age of 81, he stepped down from the Earth Policy Institute and closed the Institute.

So his book in 1972 said .4 cooling and then in 1978 it was 6 degrees warming trend!

Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics

A few years ago I thought that I had successfully tied down the origin of this quotation. I concluded that it came from Lord Courtney in 1895 as explained below, but it now appears virtually certain that, whoever first thought of it, it was not Lord Courtney. The origin is still uncertain, but if it originated with any one well-known figure, the most likely candidate is Sir Charles Dilke.

If the Federal government et al. are so concerned about the food supply why did they slaughter all the bison?

Resources are not in “fixed” but infinite supply with imagination. The cities can produce food. Organic farming works. We haven’t even begun to Live on the sea. We need clean and harmony not less….

How/who decides CO2 and pollution levels? Who decides the carrying capacity of Earth in regards to humans and total amount of food that it can produce. Arbitrary abuses of power must be considered even at the UN…

It is difficult to make predictions…especially about the future.
